J's Chimes: A Successful Presentation...

It was nerve-wrecking when the lecturer finally announced the results of our presentation and gave feedback for it. And when it was finally our turn, surprisingly our presentation was the second best in Day 1 of the 3 day presentation period. After all the hard work that we had put in, our efforts are finally paid off. Everyone in our group had really done a seriously great job in the role-playing of our presentation. It is somewhat unfortunate that we did not record it though... In any case, here's the complete introduction video of our topic titled 'An Introduction To Otaku Culture' which was break down to 4 main sections mainly manga, anime, cosplay and video games... A really big thank you to those who had made it all possibleSource URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: K-On! Manga Ends...

The popular manga K-On! has finally come to a conclusive ending and was the talk in Japanese anime forums and websites about its sad ending. It seems like Azusa was left alone as the seniors Yui, Mio, Ritsu and Mugi graduated from their school. Such brings many of Azusa's fans to tears because of this and hoping for a better end to this instead. Whether or not a continuation will be made is still pending... In any case, the anime K-On! is also coming to an end this season with only 2 more episodes to go and whether or not they would make a better end is still a mystery or perhaps stay true to the manga? Once again, another great work is coming to an end too right after Full Metal Alchemist. Hopefully we'll get to see more great works to come out soon next season...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Presentation Success...

Astoundingly, the presentation held today was a success with many good reviews and comments from our audiences. Was pretty happy with how it actually flows and the awed look in the audiences faces. Lol... Unfortunately am unable to show you the presentation but you can view the introduction video by clicking here to roughly have an idea of what we are presenting. It's been a long and tedious process creating the script and preparation from scratch and I do wanna thank everyone who's involved in this presentation. And finally I have a bit more time to blog stuff now lol...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Presenting Otaku Culture

Something amazing happen which took us by storm in my final semester. It seems that one of my modules required us to make a presentation about anything we wanted to. One of my friends suggested that we'd introduce the Otaku Culture for our presentation. Was in favor with the suggestions cause I'd actually knew a lot about such being somewhat an Otaku myself. It is the most interesting assignment that I would hardly wait to start thinking and scripting our presentation. I guess it is really a given because there's really a lot of things to share and talk about in regards to our hobby. Makes my day and lots of motivation to do this assignment... Hopefully would be able to come up with something that could awe the audiences...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: OMG! (One Manga is Gone!)

With the war on Scanlations, there's bound to be causalities involved and the very first goes to the popular free manga website known as Onemanga. As as now companies are taking seriously on licensing laws and such, websites are now closing down one at a time and who knows which the the next victim coming up. Other than that, popular series like Bleach and Naruto are now protected by copyright infringement laws so none can now be distributed for fans to continue reading the exciting parts coming soon... Whether it is a good thing or not no one is ever sure at the moment and so maybe it's back to the bookshops again...? Pertaining to this, J's Chimes will also be closing down the manga link sections as those links are already dead because of such turn of events. Anyway, let's just see what happens next...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Scanlation War Is Now...

With copyrighted laws set into full motion, manga publishing companies have finally made their move in stopping the release of Scanlations on websites. After much debates, it seems like scanlation websites are now slowly removing manga contents due to the fact that they are issued warnings of illegal publishing of licensed mangas. So it also means that in months to come ahead, popular mangas like Bleach to Claymore will soon be gone... Have been reading mangas through scanlations ever since high school because it does not 'Costs' any money except the Internet and Electricity charges. Mangas cost a lot more nowadays and occupies lots of space in the house so it is not feasible for me to be buying and storing them after reading. The fact that scanlations will be gone truly saddens me, however such is the law and there's nothing that we as readers can do anything about it. Let's just wait and see what happens next...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Dying For A Cause

With the new anime Highschool of the Dead airing this season, it's time to look back into the manga which started it all. It's been 3 months or so ever since the last chapter was released by scanlation fans and the latest series that's been uploaded shows a grueling end to the police officer known as Asami. It seems that Kohta had really shot her as she was surrounded by the horde. Was actually thinking that he would help by clearing the zombies away for her to escape but instead the authors had thus decided to kill off this character to continue on with the original surviving members. It is recommended that you should read the manga before watching the anime because it is much more interesting and has gone quite a lead ahead of the anime. You can read it here at 1000manga.com.Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: The Dead Is Rising...

The brand new season brings about a much awaiting zombie apocalypse anime known as The Highschool Of The Dead. Dubbed as one of the Greatest Masterpiece for this season and perhaps this year, such has a weird combination of gore, carnage and 'up-skirts' of girl pantsu. Have been waiting this anime for a long time and it has finally arrived... Having played many games in relations to zombies and stuff, this is the must watch of all animes upcoming this season.

Having said, much of this zombie apocalypse stuff come from books to movies, games and such... One example of a console game would be Deadrising where survivors held up in a shopping mall. Coincidentally, the plot from the movie 'Dawn of the dead' is somehow being used. As for computer games, it would easily be Left 4 Dead in which many people loved. Highschool of the dead is taken from a manga and I would believe that the anime will follow the plot respectfully without fail.

Finally, to get you all fired up to watch this amazing anime this season, here's the opening intro for the anime 'Highschool Of The Dead'. By the looks of it, it seems fans will not be disappointed with its quality whatsoever as it looks really great. With that, you might also want to read the manga as it really is good... Time to barricade your doors and load your weapons cause here comes the anime you wouldn't want to miss...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: So You Wanna Draw Manga?

I've always been interested in drawing manga but because of the many temptations in life like video games and anime, never really been able to set aside time for my drawing passion. And so drawing really has been quite a thing of the past for me... But then again, my passion has once again been re-lit after watching many of the Youtube videos about drawing manga. Have tried many times but to no avail to pretty much perfecting the face and the body of the characters am drawing. (Hmm... guess I should post some of these on my blog in later posts). In any case, it takes lots of patience and time to complete and master the art of drawing like a pro. Check this cool clip out and find out more, perhaps you might learn a thing or two. Gonna start drawing one of these days too to get myself all fired up...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: War On Scanlations

With talks about losses incurred with the piracy of mangas through scanlations available at websites, Japanese and US manga publishers have come together with the aim of putting an end to illegal online distribution of mangas. This alliance includes many of the known publishers that delivers us the mangas in stores like tokyopop. Such copyright issues are thus put into action and are currently cracking down on much of the manga sites as we know of today... Publishers claimed that scanlations are main the cause of the industry woes. Another battle against anime is once again imminent with all the piracy and copyrighted issues going on as of date. Whether it would be good or bad no one is ever sure... But since it does affect our personal well-being of reading mangas for free, I guess only time will tell...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: End Of A Legend

One of the longest running manga is coming to an end this coming July issue of the Shonen Gangan in Japan. Full Metal Alchemist, currently ranked one of the best top 3 mangas ahead of Naruto, is one of the original big selling titles like Bleach and One Piece that has sold millions of copies worldwide. Such would bring about losses to the industry once the story ended as many franchises or products sold for this series will probably become long gone together with it. While I still have not been able to catch a glimpse of this anime as of yet, I do believe it does have the same appeal as Bleach, One Piece or Naruto that has been attracting fans alike. So it might probably be a big blow to fans too that the series is quickly ending so soon after many years of publication... All things come to an end and we will just need to move on and hopefully something big will once again revive the industry once again...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Fighting Yourself...

In the latest chapter of the Fairy Tail manga, the entire guild is warped to an alternative world where the hero counterparts reside with some of the characters fighting on the dark side. This climatic episode features Erza fighting the evil Erza on this new land and things are going to get heated up with their weapons and armor. (The anime sure is slow so interested fans I recommend you go read the manga as its already pretty far ahead...) Can't wait for the exciting continuation of the manga, and not to mention the anime in which the Fairy Tail mages are up against a moving fortress...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chime: They Are All Connected To Anime...

Some people just don't understand the importance of Japanese anime in our lifestyle so I thought that a little 'Education' is necessary for you to know why. Of course you do know how anime begun and stuff but do you really know that they actually connected to all industries around? Think harder and you will get the gist of it. They are as per follows:

Anime inspires mangas & doujinshi and vice versa:
Till date, most mangas are now being made into anime because of their popularity. Some examples are Bleach to Naruto. Some animes also become manga and such would be Suzumiya Haruhi to Code Geass. Sometimes the storyline deviates from each other or that the style of art is different.

Anime comes from Eroge and vice versa:
Same as mangas, some adult games do become anime (Other genre includes ecchi and hentai) and vice versa. Some examples are ToHeart, Comic Party and School Days. Surprisingly, Eroges seem have better storyline in some cases. Thus its inevitable that people who loved anime will definitely get to know Hentai too. Of course there are still Eroges that came out as a decent anime like Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro Na, Izumo or Utawarerumono instead of making it into a H anime.

Anime creates Artwork, Fanbooks, Fanarts and vice versa:
A good example would be Queen's Blade in which the artwork are kinda popular that it becomes an anime a few seasons back. Anime also brings market to the art industry which also brought about making characters for games, movies, etc. An example of such Artist is Tony Taka who drew up characters for Shining Tears, games and anime.

Anime helps develop games and vice versa:
A nice example would be the Suzumiya Haruhi game on PSP and an example of games becoming anime would be Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Vesperia, etc. In fact, games are made to look like anime characters and you could name many though in the market.

Anime releases movies and vice versa:
Anime creates movies in both live action, animation and 3D. Examples of live action includes Death Note, Animations as in Summer Wars and 3D animations like Final Fantasy The Spirits Within. In fact there are more of such movies and popular ones like Death Note live action has been watch by many people whom includes those who don't like anime. But the thing is, it originates FROM anime, so why are you complaining?

Anime brings about products into industry and vice versa:
With anime's popularity comes about toys for kids, daily necessities like food to tissues or plates etc, stickers, cups, straps, wallets, clothes, appliances, electronics and many many more stuff in the market which in turn generates profit. If you for once think that anime is useless or should be ban, won't all of these industries be affected and create loss of jobs, revenue, opportunity costs?

Anime becomes hobbies and scale models and vice versa:
With anime, it brings about demands for scale models of favourite characters and stuff. Thus bringing about new hobbies for people. Anime creates new demands like daimakura, card games like Bushiroad's Weiss Schwarz, Gundam modeling, Gashapons, etc.

Anime relates to Cosplay and vice versa:
Without animes, there won't be cosplay and without cosplay, there won't be animes. Similarly a new industry in regards to cosplay for example fashion, makeup, wigs, clothing stores would be affected if not for anime which inspires people to dress as their favourite character. With that there won't be conventions and such around.

Anime spurs conventions, competitions, events and vice versa:
Would there be comicon, comiket, AFA, Coscon, Cosfest, EOY and such happening around the world if anime does not exists? Won't there be a bit less entertainment for the general public if anime wasn't around? Think again....

Anime composed Songs & Music and vice versa:
So you've heard many songs in Japanese? Out of the few you've listened, there would bound to be one that's from an anime series. So you say that anime songs are bad... Are you saying that the idols who sang these are bad too? Take note that some of these anime song are sung by popular bands like Orange Range to Ayumi Hamasaki.

Anime brings about Seiyuus, Voice acting, writers, artists, Idols, etc:
May'n is an example of popular idols in Japan. Voice actings for anime characters, giving a boost to art in a country, etc are what anime could expand into. Without such there wouldn't be voice acting schools, artwork, writers around wouldn't it? Singapore is slowly picking up with animations and stuff in relations to IT so it wouldn't be surprising to see animation films by local people in future.

Anime brings about photography in parts of the world and also tourism in Japan:
Cosplay = Photography and I would be surprise if it wasn't... Such brings about also tourism in Japan by tourists from around the world who loves anime too. What else would also be popular in Japan? Hardly I can't think of any besides it having delicious food and shopping, scenery and culture...

BEST PART ABOUT Anime? Everything is linked together...
Anime = Mangas = Eroge = Artwork = Games = Movies = Cosplay = Models = Conventions = Songs..... Talk about any and it all adds up and links well together. Any other reasons to hate anime now? Take out either one and they will all fall like dominoes. Think deeper and you'd understand what animes really are... Of course there are still more connections in which animes could link to and no doubt it is a part of our daily lives before you know it. Your push toy to your phone strap could very well be from an anime when you least expect it...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Bleach-ed By Hollywood

With sales of its manga on top charts and anime that runs for years and counting, Bleach is now under the watchful eyes of Hollywood. It won't be an anime this time but a live action series set to come under the screens in 2014 by Warner Brothers. With the epic fails and protesters from the popular series Dragonball which was given the same treatment before, I doubt it will be good and bound to have critics and failure reviews from fans.

One of bleach fans questioned about this new movie: 'Will they stick to the Japanese Style for example the coloured hairs and using back the term Zanpakuto? It'll probably be set in a middle class American town. All the Japanese characters will be played by white people and nobody in the movie will find it strange that a bunch of white kids have Japanese names.'

I lol-ed hard at this because it's so true when you take the previous live action series Dragonball as comparison. And here's a fan-made video for such an occasion... and no, it's not out in 2012 as this is just a parody... But if this is true and looks like this, Bleach is leeched hard once again...

J's Chimes: Bleach Leech

It's been said that a comic artist name Nick Simmons copied the actions and characters from the Japanese anime Bleach into his own comic known as Incarnate. Fans of Bleach were outrage over it and demanded explanation over such infringement. Seriously if you really do read the comic, it's so similar to Bleach in many ways... the part where Ichigo fights the arrancar in Hueco Mundo. A comparison can be seem as above... seriously same...Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas

J's Chimes: Manga Mania

I was an avid manga reader during my younger days. Even till now i still read mangas but in a different way than before. That's because of storage problems with this much stack of books to keep. Thus would wrapped them up with ziplock bags to prevent ageing of the books. But now I read my mangas online in websites like onemanga.com, mangafox.com or mangavolume.com since they are free with translations to boot too as I suck in reading it in chinese. My very first was Love Hina and soon after got addicted and reading other genres then. With e-mangas, storage problems are totally non-existence other than your hard drive.Source URL: https://maryelizabeth-winstead.blogspot.com/search/label/Mangas
