We all understand the EB immigration system currently as is needs to be fixed. We need to recognize this problem first. What I don't understand is most of the people I talk to about issues do not recognize the problem or are willing to accept it as is. They don't seem to be motivated in supporting IV from volunteering or providing financial support. If you look at this forum, take the amount of people who are registered and the amount of people who actually bring tangible value to this organization. What is in those few that we don't have? Let us all recognize that there is a problem first and lets think about ways to mobilize and spend energy in one direction set by IV.
Yes, we may not agree with every solution, but let us focus and believe that something will happen, if we all try together!

ya, lets step-up a poll and have everyone vote, as if this is the US congress. And after voting leave it for someone else to work on this and other "brilliant" idea. There needs to be a reality check. This poll doesn't mean anything unless there are enough people to spend time and energy at every level. But ya, lets setup a poll and have everyone vote, it will give everyone a feel good factor that everyone contributed in the advocacy effort, how? by voting in the pool and not doing anything about how everyone votes.

I never claimed any amount for this holiday gift on this thread yet but what if I want to donate $31 or per say $ 81 one time, I do not have that option now and so I will end up not donating now and wait and donate when I feel comfortable with $ 100/- or its multiplications. That is called turning away and if you guys do not see any danger into it I do not have any further words.
Fund raising is an art and I believe our current startegy is lacking that art. If you guys see the base of any major successful fund raising (Grass root level not Political ones, mind well we claim ourselves grass root level organization)you will always find donors with $ 1 to donors with $1 million donatiing as per their will. Grass root level fund raisings can not afford constraints which normally goes successful in political and/or industrial fund raisings.
Some of the strong supporters of current policy, in their argument, automatically assume that willing donor always used to spend $ 100/- frequently for drinks or food and may be living lavish life style. But they are partly wrong in their assumption...I myself never eat outside frequently. Even on a travel trip I cook my food by myself and I normally do not drink sodas or alcohol so what abhijitp has given a example at least does not remain valid for me but I can not say that it is completely out of proportion, as it has some valid logic but it can not be true for everyone.
Point is if we make a wrong based fund raising policy, we may hurt ourselves only. I know my option, if I want to donate odd figure now, I will not be able to donate it now, and I will have to wait till I feel comfortable donating $ 100/- and/or single digit multiplications of $ 100/- but would that be considered a good and wise option?
For an example, I am emotionally charged today and I want to donate $ 61/-(As I may plan that much only..for whatever reasons) but I am not able to donate so I will not donate and say after 4 months I will be able to plan $ 100/- but what if at that time I may not be emotionally charged to donate all together? So end effect would be I will end up donating nothing ( This is just an example..:))
And for the sake of argument if you enrolled yourself $50/- recurring, you did it willingly and so would you change to $ 25/- recurring if $ 25/-option is available to you? (Note: I think most people on this board fear that with having a minimum amount option, most people will turn to that only but that may not be 100% true. and even if it may become true it will end up having more donation flow) For most people answer is no, I believe, They will stick to $ 50/- recurring option as they can afford and they did it willingly. But with current policy we are completely turning away the people who may otherwise donate, for an example $ 20/- monthly-recurring policy may turn 40 new commited donors in whereas $50/- recurring option is creating only 10 donors and thus we may be ending up $ 300/- confirmed donation loss per month. This is just an example and based on assumption that less amount would attract more commited donors.
Having said all this, if majority memebrs and core still feel that this will be the only future standard for accepting donations then as I mentioned above, I will have only one option left and that is to wait till I become comfortable for donating $ 100/- ( I will remain emotionally charged...:))

You joined just one month ago and started accusing IV because they did not reply to your PM. We get several PMs, emails, phone calls everyday. We try to attend as many as possible. However we also have our jobs and life. Not every IV core member comes to the forum to post messages. There are several things we do for this cause that is not forum management work.
If we had an office with a customer service department, we could answer everyone. If people want good customer service from IV, are they willing to provide help through their spouse who does not work and stay at home? In the last 2.5 we have posted several times, but only a handful of members offered help through their spouses to volunteer for IV. After initial start, almost all disappeared within 15 days because there was no money and appreciation by members in this volunteer effort. They preferred to find own jobs and make money. So tell me if you are willing to help out in managing our customer service 24/7?
This is for everyone:
Stop accusing IV if your greencard is not coming soon enough. As Admin2 said, we try to reply to people and help them. However in the last 2.5 years, we never had a single IV member calling us to thank us for helping them. This year everyone is able to file for a 2 year EAD. It was possible because of our effort during the admin fix campaign early this year. So many members are today enjoying the 2 year EAD and do not have to worry about renewing it every year. We have not heard a single member thanking us for it. While we are not here to ask for thank you notes, it is discouraging to hear members coming every week and opening threads accusing IV leadership just because visa bulletin was not in their favor. 2 months ago, these members were ignoring IV action item requests and only thinking about own cases and criticizing EB3s on the threads. Put yourself in our shoes and try to do what we are trying to do. Take out that many number of hours everyday for IV as we do. Go on your own expense to DC and meet lawmakers. Get threats from anti-immigrants and still continue to work on this effort without fear.
There is a thread for high five campaign. How many of us have really contributed a mere 5 dollar for it? The community of more than 30 thousand has failed to raise even 5K in more than 2 months and yet we want to see results. 5K is not even enough to file your own greencard case and you want to lobby with it and fight with anti-immigrants who spend millions opposing us? Where is IV membership now when we need them? Is the IV membership ready to take the blame for its failure?
Today everyone is talking about sending clocks, letters or even has the courage to send emails to USCIS. 2.5 years ago people were scared to do any of this. Nobody was talking about employer problems or lawyer problems. There was no action item. There was no awareness. But today we have changed all that. This is IV's biggest achievement.
So before you start pointing fingers at IV, pose a question to yourself. Have you done enough for this cause? We need threads to translate into action and results. Your contribution for IV should not be how many threads and posts you have created but what you have done for the community.
As we have always said, join your state chapters and if your chapter is not active, make it active. Be a leader. Use your energy to lead the effort and travel to DC and meet lawmaker offices. Meet lawmakers in your area. Make phone calls, write letters. But don't just create threads with ideas. We need people to work on those ideas.
Remember each one of us is responsible for IV's success and failure and IV is everyone.

Very sorry to know about the nanny situation. I would not recommend taking any legal action on that nanny because you are not supposed to hire her in the first place. So if you do complain about her, it is going to back fire on you, saying how did you hire her in the first place.
It is really horrible how a person can have heart to beat a small baby. Also she is not supposed to work on a tourist visa, if someone complains she can be deported.
I would suggest the following, just terminate her asap and try to use some local nanny who has proper papers to work. (since any way you are paying the same amount).
If you had hired someone who had proper papers, and if they had committed this , i am very sure you can take them up legally and make sure they do not do this again to someone else. But in this case it is a bit complex as you too may get in to trouble for hiring her.

We make a decision to put threads on the home page that we believe are important for our effort. If you feel otherwise, that is ok. But it is not ok for you to use derogatory language. If you feel so passionate, why don't you start your organization and spend your time, energy and resources and advocate for the cause instead of posting derogatory messages for others. It is very easy to fire when the gun is on someone else shoulder. We understand and share the frustration with green card delays, but that does not give you license to use derogatory language. Everyday there is new thread asking for update, leadership, direction etc. It is not practical to reply to every such post on this forum. That too does not give you license to use derogatory language. In last over 2.5 years we have answered many thousands questions in forums, emails and phone calls. I have heard many a times from my fellow team mates that not once did anyone receive a Thank you note from someone after that someone was fully able to resolve the situation after receiving reply from my colleagues at IV. None of us spend time on this cause to receive a Thank you note, however, posts like yours makes us wonder that are we a community of thankless educated immigrants who are so obsessed with our individual case that all that we want is instant gratification to exactly know the current status of our green cards, without which automatically IV is at fault. Just so that you know, people spend 30 sometimes 40 hours a week over the period of years, just to read a post from someone like you. We received a call at 12:30am yesterday from someone asking about changing to another company because his current employer was not being fair. So when you mock, please make it clear that you are not the one standing in the line of fire and you are not the one who wants to stand in the line of fire. You just wants to be the one to mock and ridicule. If you are serious about taking the baton, please let us know your phone number and we will post it on the website so that people can call you when they have a question. Lets talk about passing the baton, how about we start from posting your phone number on the website, lets see how you take that challenge. No one is paid to work on IV. People spend time on this effort out of their good-will and passion for the cause. So please be respectful towards others for their efforts. This is the most sensible idea in a long time. And I agree with keeping it low profile. This would also give a reality for the Govt as to how many actual cases that are pending if in future they wanna do something with an actual law to really help out.

Do you think it is correct that only EB-immigrants should be given preference? Why because USA needs all of them? While I have used "you" in the previous sentences, I don't mean just you....rather "we".
If you have time-bound path to immigration, then right now, the whole Federal Govt. and all employees will have to work only on getting the immigration files cleared. Under current circumstances, I think the current system will get you a GC faster than if they switched to "time bound" today. Do you realize, how many people will suddenly be suing the Govt. for delays? There is no country which guarantees time-bound path to PR.
While I forcefully oppose the DREAM ACT and CIR, these did not give time bound GCs but only allowed illegals to convert to legals and in time APPLY for GC if they become eligible.
Can we propose a bill which would give us - the honest, sincere, law abiding aliens - a time bound path to Green Card and Citizenship?
Political parties only talk and seem to be interested in giving illegals a time bound path to citizenship? They even introduced a "Dream Act" in favour their children. Why should we / our children be sidelined?
Can we request for a bill which would:
1.Grant GC to all EB 2 / 3 class pimary applicants who have completed 8 years of continuous stay in the USA without any criminal record.
2. Provide Citizeship to all EB primary applicants who have completed 12 years of continuous stay without any criminal record
Note:
When the primary applicant is issued a GC / Citizenship, the dependents (spouse and kids) should get the same benefit.
The current system is designed to favour ONLY the employers and the law firms, not the humble, hard working EB class slave who toils.
